I’m a work-at-home, take-time-out-to-enjoy-a-rousing round of Mario Kart/hand of Old Maid/showdown between hero and villain and/or change the toddler , blissfully-recovering-infertile kind of mom.

While juggling freelance gigs from my living room floor, I have heard myself order my 6-year-old to let go of the cat’s tail and answer that, no, he may not paint the baby, and I have shoved my laptop aside to explain death and define God.

Life is a whirlwind. It’s hard – and it’s fun. Laugh it up when you can, I say. And when nothing seems funny, just hold on for the ride because, whether we’re ready or not, this will all be over in a blink.
